Over the last three years, we have partnered with Keiki O Ka ‘Āina and the Laulima Giving Program during the holiday season to spread cheer and support their mission of bringing companies and individuals together in Hawai‘i. The Laulima Giving Program is a community-focused program under Keiki O Ka ‘Āina Learning Center focused on assisting struggling and deserving families, the elderly, and individuals including: children with special needs, families affected by incarceration, and single parents. We continued our partnership with the organization in 2023 with a $40,000 monetary donation.
Our partnership began in December, with our monthly Donation Canister designation to the Laulima Giving Program. This effort supports organizations by collecting monetary donations at our 67 statewide locations throughout the month.
We had the pleasure of attending Laulima Day 2023 at Windward Mall on Saturday, December 2. The Gingerbread ‘Ohana Fest, presented by 7-Eleven Hawai‘i, brought together high school teams and kupuna to compete in themed competitions. Winners won various categories such as most creative and people’s choice.
Laulima Giving Program activities continued throughout December, culminating with the Laulima Telethon on Thursday, December 14 on KHON2. We were fortunate to present our company donation with a big check during the live telethon to Laulima Development Specialist, Michael Wong, and Executive Director, Momi Akana. Thanks to the support of the Hawai‘i community, the organization successfully raised crucial funds that will supplement year-round programs.
Additionally, members of our Store Support Team adopted Laulima families on O‘ahu and Kaua‘i. Together, our employees donated over $3,000 worth of in-kind gifts, products, and gift cards.
